Problems With Garmin Ant Agent For Mac
We haven't seen this problem in 3 years. The Forerunner ANT stick and the Newton use the same USB computer chip and drivers. So, the Mac gets confused when both products happen to be used on the same computer. You can return your Newton to us, and we can attempt to reprogram it so that the drivers won't conflict (but no guarantees that this will work).
Please note that this is not a defect of the Newton or the Garmin; it is simply an unfortunate coincidence. You could also ask Garmin to reprogram its ANT stick, but I doubt they would be willing to do so. I do not work with Mac's but I am a Unix admin type. So an idea, if you have the patience and some Unix (Osx) knowledge may be a kludgy workaround. The idea is to start back from scratch as you did when you received the Garmin units, install them and get the Ant stick to work. Next backup all of the files and folders listed in the Garmin cleanup.
Next install Isaac and get it working, then backup the files and folders again to another place. Finally set up a script to copy some or all in place prior to use. If Osx has the 'slibclean' command then you can run that to clear any loaded library's out of memory transparently (things will keep running and load any libs into memory again as needed) else if no slibclean or equivalent command then a reboot is needed. two options to work through for the script: A. Brute force, copy all of the appropriate backed up file sets into place and run slibclean as mentioned or reboot as necessary. Compare/identify file and reduce the number needed to copy over either with diff or cksum or iteratively with testing (takes a lot longer). Oh third option, give John a shot at reprogramming your Newton, which I think is great of him to offer.
Oh, he may prefer to have a shot at this in case others have the problem, don't know. No idea if this is any help, this may be the first time I am relieved to be running windoz Regards, Russ Edit: I did a bit more searching, probably no slibclean on Osx but this link may also be of help: 'Load and unload kernel extensions without restarting System'. We have verified that we can reprogram your Newton so it won't conflict with your ANT stick. However, you'll need to send it to us for updating.
In order to make the ANT stick work I have to delete the Silabs driver and reinstall it via the ANT agent - This action makes it so the ibike will not communicate with Isaac If i then reinstall the driver via Isaac it works fine with the newton and disables the ANT stick So. Both ways I have to restart the computer it is a little infuriating I wish I could setup hardware profiles When I run connect with the newton installed and on I get 'Ibike needs to use a com port in the range 1-64' and then the 'Ibike is not responding common tips message' If i push the download Sillicon Labs driver then the newton will work will work The only option for a port is a Bluetooth PDA sync. I fought this for a long time (I would even use Parallels to run the Newton in a PC environment), and then they co-existed for some time, but again they do not work together (for at least the last month or two).
However, there is another solution, the Suunto Movestick mini ($39 from Amazon) - this is a small USB ANT+ stick and it works quite well. It even works with the Garmin ANT+ downloader (I have FR60 watch that I download my Spin Class on). I just did this, but it all seems to work (I also have a FitBit - the original one that used a variant on ANT+ and it too would get all mixed up, but all seems fine with this setup).
So, I think it is all working now, we'll see.
Android and iOS Step 2: Install Device Drivers If you're on a PC, make sure you've installed the. For Mac users, there is no need to install these. Apple computers come with the necessary drivers already installed so you can skip this and continue to the next step. How to Check for Installed Drivers To check if the drivers are installed, go to 'start' and type 'Device manager'. Load the program called device manager. The device might be displayed in two different locations. Trouble installing drivers?
If it looks like the drivers won't install, the next step is to try another USB Port. If that doesn't work, try installing the drivers on another computer.

If you still can't install the drivers on another computer, it is likely that you have a bad ANT stickĀ and will need a new one. If you have access to another ANT+ USB stick, try that on both computers and see if the drivers will install. It's also possible the driver was corrupted or changed by your OS or another software program. To fix this, you can uninstall your device drivers and perform a fresh install by following the instructions on.
Drivers install on another computer, but not the one you train with? We've seen this a few times and there's not much we can do.
Problems With Garmin Ant Agent For Mac Os
There is likely a system level problem keeping you from installing the drivers for the USB stick. A refresh of the operating system is often needed. This is depressing, I know. This occurs because there is a system level problem between the operating system and Garmin's drivers for the ANT+ stick. Make sure that you test that ANT stick on more computers and USB ports on your computer before you reach this drastic level of refreshing your OS. Step 3: Check for Conflicts If the drivers are installed properly, but TrainerRoad cannot find the ANT+ USB stick, there may be conflicting programs as only one program can access the ANT+ USB stick at a time. Check for Garmin ANT Agent in the system tray.
If that program is on, make sure you exit it. See screenshot examples below, or watch this video on. Garmin ANT Agent (Mac) Have an Acer or other computer with Soluto installed? We've seen some pre-installed software on Acer computers (and some others) that mess with ANT+ USB sticks.
If you have an Acer computer, you can manually stopĀ these interruptive programs. Go to start, then type 'taskmgr'. Go to the process tab and look for something called 'Soluto'. If you see that process, click on it and click 'end task'. If that fixes the problem, you'll want to use the and remove it from your computer. Step 4: Check if Garmin Express Can Detect the Stick If TrainerRoad can not find the stick, and there are no conflicting problems then we want to test the stick in Garmin's software to make sure it works. Open and locate it in the system tray (PC) or task bar (mac), and click to open it.
Working: Device is Connected and Active. Mac Example What do I do if Garmin ANT Agent/Express does not detect the ANT+ USB Stick?
If the drivers are properly installed and Garmin ANT Agent/Express can't detect the stick, you'll want to repeat the process on another USB port on your computer. If you get the same result try it again on another computer. If you can't get TrainerRoad or Garmin ANT Agent/Express to detect the USB stick, you likely have a bad ANT stick and should return/exchange it from your place of purchase. Still having problems? If you've gone through all the steps above, shoot us an email at. To help us with the ticket, please let us know your username, your operating system, your computer brand, how the above steps went for you and what kind of ANT+ USB stick you have, details below to figure out what kind of stick you have. Don't know which type of USB stick you have?
There are two kinds of ANT+ USB sticks to choose from: USB 1.0 and USB 2.0. USB 1.0 can connect up to 4 devices at a time, while USB 2.0 can handle up to 8. Most newer sticks will be 2.0 since 1.0 is no longer in production.
